This Liberty ship was named
for Daniel Carroll (1730-1796).
Daniel Carroll was a plantation owner, politician, and Founding Father of the
United States. Carroll was a Maryland delegate to the Confederation Congress
and Philadelphia Convention, and signed both the Articles of Confederation and
the U.S. Constitution. Carroll served as a Member of the U.S. House of
Representatives from 1789-1791.
