This Liberty ship was named
for Edmund Randolph (175-1813).
Edmund Randolph was a lawyer, soldier, and politician. Randolph served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution, and was an aide-de-camp to General George Washington. Randolph was a Virginia delegate to the Continental Congress from 1779-1782, and to the Constitutional Convention in 1787. Randolph was Governor of Virginia from 1786-1788, U.S. Attorney General from 1789-1794, and U.S. Secretary of State from 1794-1795.
