for Edward J. Berwin (1848-1936). Edward Julius Berwind was a U.S. naval officer and businessman. Berwind graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Berwind was the founder of the Berwind-White Coal Mining Company and at one time owned the most coal mines in the world.
