This Liberty ship was named for Edwin C. Musick (1894-1938). Edwin Charles Musick was an American aviator. Musicj was a pilot for Pan American World Airways and pioneered many routes over the Pacific Ocean. Musick commanded the first flight of the China Clipper in trans-Pacific passenger operation.
