This Liberty ship was named
for Ezra Meeker (1830-1928). Ezra Meeker was a pioneer and politician. Meeker was a pioneer of the Pacific Northwest and served as the mayor of Puyallup, Washington from 1890-1891 and again from 1892-1893. In later years Meeker led preservation efforts and promotion of the Oregon Trail.
