This Liberty ship was named for Felix Grundy (1777-1840). Felix Grundy was a lawyer, politician, and government official. Grundy served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Tennessee from 1811-1814, U.S. Senator from Tennessee from 1829-1838 and from 1839-1840, and as U.S  Attorney General from 1838-1839.
