This Liberty ship was named
for Amos Kendall (1789-1869). Amos
Kendall was a lawyer, journalist, and politician. Kendall is most well known
for being the editor of the newspaper Argus of Western America. Kendall served
as U.S. Postmaster General from 1835-1840, and was a member of President Andrew
Jackson's "Kitchen Cabinet."
