The Maritime Administration's National Register Eligibility Assessment for Mission Capistrano, available in the Documents section, contains a detailed history of the vessel.

The Maritime Adminstration withdrew Mission Capistrano from the National Defense Reserve Fleet on July 5, 2012, upon its departure from Beaumont Reserve Fleet.  The vessel had been sold for dismantlement.
