The Maritime Administration's National Register Eligibility Assessment for Ortolan, available in the Documents section, contains a detailed history of the vessel.

Ortolan departed the Beaumont Reserve Fleet on July 20, 2009, bound to be dismantled under a scrap services contract.  The dismantlement was complete, and the vessel withdrawn from the National Defense Reserve Fleet, on March 23, 2010.
