This Liberty ship was named for Ben Holladay (1819-1897). Benjamin Holladay was a transportation businessman. Holladay is best known for developing a stagecoach empire and starting the Overland Stage to California during the 1849 California Gold Rush. Holladay was known as the "Stagecoach King."
