(1832-1896). Benjamin Helm Bristow was a Lawyer, soldier, and statesman from
Kentucky. Bristow served as an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War.
Bristow was the Solicitor General of the U.S. from 1870-1872, and U.S.
Secretary of the Treasury from 1874-1876.
