This Liberty ship was named for
Benjamin Huntington (1736-1800). Benjamin Huntington was a
lawyer, jurist, politician and Founding Father of the United States. Huntington
was a Connecticut delegate to the Continental Congress and signed the
Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation. Huntington served as
a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Connecticut from 1789-1791.
