This Liberty ship was named for Jeremiah Wadsworth (1748-1804). Jeremiah Wadsworth was a merchant mariner and officer in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Wadsworth was a Connecticut delegate to the Continental Congress, and a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Connecticut from 1789-1795.
