for William S. Rosecrans
(1819-1898). William Starke Rosecrans was a soldier, statesman, and politician.
Rosecrans was a graduate of West Point and served as a major general in the
Union Army during the Civil War. Rosecrans was
U.S. Minister to Mexico from 1868-1869, and a Member of the U.S. House
of Representatives from California from 1881-1885.
