for Edward Rutledge (1749-1800). Edward Rutledge was a politician and Founding Father of the United States. Rutledge was a South Carolina delegate to the Continental Congress from 1774-1776, and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Rutledge served in the South Carolina militia during the American Revolution. Rutledge was governor of South Carolina from 1798-1800.
