This Liberty ship was named
for Caesar Rodney (1728-1784). Caesar
Rodney was a lawyer, soldier, politician and Founding Father of the United
States. Rodney served as a militia officer in the French and Indian War and
during the Revolutionary War. Rodney was a Delaware delegate to the Continental
Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence. Rodney served as the
President of Delaware from 1778-1781.
